Riding Lessons
Western and English riding lessons are offered in private & semi private settings. Riding lessons run in four 8 week sessions per year. Ages 5+ are welcome.

Each lesson will focus on safety and horsemanship skills. Although most lessons will be ridden there may be times your student would benefit from a ground lesson and it will be conducted as such. You are allowed 2 make-up lessons per session. Any other cancellations are forfeited and payment will still be collected. If your instructor has to cancel due to weather or personal emergency an additional make up lesson will be allowed. There are three make up spots available per month, you may choose the day that works for you. These days and times will be available through the google calendar. You are responsible for getting on the schedule for a make up time. Please let your instructor know which day you will be attending. Your student will participate in a ground horsemanship lesson. This will be done in a small group setting for those who need a make up time. These lessons will cover a variety of horsemanship topics that will be beneficial to their continued education. Spring, Fall and Winter lesson times are Tuesday-Thursday in the afternoons and Saturday AM/PM. Summer lessons run Tuesday-Thursday in the morning.

Lessons times scheduled on holidays will not be charged for and will not be eligible for a make up time. Those include: July 4th, and Thanksgiving. Lessons run 45 min-1 hour. A one month package is available for students that have never ridden and would like a trial before committing to a full session. This includes an intro lesson and three regular lessons. A month package is required for students that have not actively participated in lessons that would like to join a semi-private lesson time before they will be able to join.

Long pants (jeans or thick leggings), boots with at least a 1” heel and a helmet are required for riding. Helmets will be provided if you do not have one. If you would like to purchase a riding helmet Troxel and Ovation carry good quality helmets for around $50. Helmets must be ASTM/SEI certified to be used for riding. If your student wants to ride English you will need to purchase paddock boots and half chaps. If they would like to try English before committing to a full session half chaps can be available to borrow for that time.

When inclement weather is predicted (Excess heat, cold, wind or rain)  lessons will be turned into ground lessons. Cancellations for weather are at the discretion of your instructor. However in general if the below criteria is met lessons will be canceled.
– Heat index is above 130 degrees, or below 40
– Wind from the north/south that is above 30 mph
– Active thunderstorms, heavy rain or tornado watch/warnings

Littles Lessons:
Littles lessons are available for kids ages 4-6. They run for 30-45 minutes. This involves learning how to tack and groom and learning all of the basic riding skills while being attached to a lead line. Due to younger children’s attention span and physical strength these are more suitable for them as they begin learning. As they progress in their skills they will be able to move off lead line and eventually into regular lessons.

Off Property Lessons:
I will travel within reason to your property and do a private lesson there. Subject to availability. Milage cost will be in addition to your lesson.
